We are hiring an IT Business Analyst, Pharmacy.

Reporting directly to Application Portfolio Manager, Pharmacy, the incumbent understands and represents business needs as a critical part of Software and Systems development projects and enhancements. In collaboration with the Business Services Leadership team the incumbent will incorporate formal Business Analysis methodologies to understand and confirm business requirements within the pharmacy line of business. The incumbent will be a member of a project team responsible for collaboration and communication with internal customers and external vendors to analyze information needs in order to deliver the necessary project artifacts. Distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs will be an important skill for the incumbent as he/she critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details and abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding. The Business Analyst is an integral part of the project team that delivers high quality IT projects on time, within budget and agreed scope.

Primary Responsibilities:

Elicitation: Ensures appropriate stakeholders are involved in elicitation activities, obtaining needed information from stakeholders to form business requirements, captures information provided in elicitation sessions and validates requirements with stakeholders.
Planning & Monitoring: Evaluates project complexity, assumptions, constraints and dependencies. Creates a stakeholder matrix and determines influence and relationship needs. Develops effective communication plans to meet project and stakeholder needs. Identifies and communicates risks and issues that may require changes to plans or scope.
Requirements Management & Communication: Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed:
Business Cases
Various iterations of Business Requirements
Use Cases
Functional Requirements.
Business Processes Documentation
Gap analysis
Assist in creation of project charters
Obtains the needed approvals on solution requirements, and manages changes to requirements. Manages conflicts and issues to resolution, traces requirements from business case to test case to implemented solution. Prepares requirements documentation and presents in understandable format, ensures and supports stakeholder understanding of requirements. Assesses impacts of changes to requirements.
Requirements Analysis and Verification: Ability to assess risk and prioritize requirements effectively based on factors including business value, cost to deliver, time constraints. Understands appropriate use of various analysis techniques. Capacity to develop models that describe a business domain. Ensures that requirements meet the needed quality to effectively guide further work including testing and deployment.
Solution Assessment and Validation: Ability to assess the organizational readiness for new solutions. Defines capabilities and requirements to support transition to new solutions while having the ability to validate that the solution meets the business need, measures and evaluates solutions for value and opportunities.

Additional duties can include:
Implementation tasks, warranty support, in-life systems support or user training (on or offsite)
Supporting or performing testing
Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
Participate in project assessments while developing the corresponding business cases.
Develop and maintain business process documentation
Identify areas for process improvement opportunities and facilitate implementation, including quality assurance for deliverables and change management guidance.
Communicate and apply standards based on SDM’s project methodology.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings/presentations with various levels of management.
Maintain ongoing, proactive relationships with internal and external teams (vendors, business and IT stakeholders).

Skills and Experience:

This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects.

Strong understanding of pharmacy business
BA Certificate with practical experience incorporating formal BA methodologies (IIBA certified preferred)
Minimum 3 years of prior Business Analyst experience within an IT or technology department, preferably within retail, supply chain, Distribution, and/or Manufacturing
Experience eliciting requirements using various techniques – for example - interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, JAD sessions, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Experience developing Use Cases
Ideally, experience with EPC (Event-driven Process Chain)
Expert Skills and detailed understanding of Requirement Elicitation and Requirements Management Processes (including skills developing Business, Functional Requirements, Use Cases and Business Process Maps – ideally using EPC)
Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
Strong leadership, decision-making and problem solving ability
Detail oriented with strong organizational, facilitation and presentation skills
Proficient knowledge and detailed understanding of software development life cycle and methodologies
Experience in business process re-engineering is an asset
Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Project methodology including MS Project and Visio is an asset
Expert analytical and organizational skills, a team player
Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
Working knowledge and experience in Retail sector preferred
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or applicable business discipline or equivalent from a recognized institution
